    spray painted leather chair

    Uncategorized

heres some after pictures of the chair in my lounge. i love how easy this project was.

i picked up this chair for £10 at my local tip/recycling centre.  it was pretty banged up, but nothing a lick of paint couldnt solve, yes you read it right paint!!!. i saw a tutorial for a spray painted leather couch and it looked amazing, i was so gob smacked when i read the tutorial on johnny in a dress that i have been waiting to try it ever since. so when i saw this chair i knew i could make it the colour i wanted (white like always lol).

                                                                                    before
(its not an awful colour but it takes vintage a bit far for me as its all cracked and discoloured)

i sprayed the chair with white fabric/vinyl spray paint. i used two cans, it was super simple to do, and now the cracked leather chair has a new lease of life. i sprayed the chair over and over lightly following the instructions on the tin, so that it didnt run, as sometimes i tend to hold the can to close when im spray painting.
    after
i just had to do it today, im so impatient. so because it was raining, as usual in england lol, i put the sun parasol up and stood underneath it worked a treat.

Hi Aimee! I'm a first-time visitor to your site–love it! I lived in England for 4 years, and reading your post made me feel like I was having a chat with some of my English friends. Onto the chair–so fabulous! I love the all-white look. This is making me size up dodgy-looking leather with a whole new eye…

Seriously you always do such incredible work, i.e. pillow, painted trunk, telephone table redo, etc. etc. Your work/projects are always so inspiring. WOW. Okay, I'm amazed at this. I have this 30+ year old chair from my late uncle (a lovely Queen Anne style) that I've wanted to "deal with" for so long…because the orange/brown 1970's suede just isn't cutting it anymore. Thanks so much for the inspiration! I can't pin this fast enough!

I love it!! I have a spray painted leather chair I did a few years ago, it even made it to Design Sponge! They didn't have spray paint for leather and vinyl then, I just used Silver spray paint and did a lot of coats, very slowly. Your chair turned out gorgeous. So excited to try this new product!! BTW, my chair has not shown any signs of wearing, spray paint it amazing.

PS I host a linky party every Friday-Sunday, I would LOVE it if you could link this up. This is one of those projects that seeing is believing. Thanks!

Did you pre-treat the wood on the chair, and paint it with the same paint?

Does this hold up to wear and tear? Would a couch in house of 3 kids hold up?? This looks amazing!

Is the chair definitely leather and not vinyl? I have a leather chesterfield that I want to paint but I'm terrified it will be the wrong paint.

Yes its definitely leather. If you buy the leather spray paint for car seats then you will be fine xxx
