heres some after pictures of the chair in my lounge. i love how easy this project was.
i picked up this chair for £10 at my local tip/recycling centre. it was pretty banged up, but nothing a lick of paint couldnt solve, yes you read it right paint!!!. i saw a tutorial for a spray painted leather couch and it looked amazing, i was so gob smacked when i read the tutorial on johnny in a dress that i have been waiting to try it ever since. so when i saw this chair i knew i could make it the colour i wanted (white like always lol).
before
(its not an awful colour but it takes vintage a bit far for me as its all cracked and discoloured)

Marta how does the paint hold up I have a really comfy, but Warn and a bit ugly, chair that I sit on a lot, wondering how the paint would hold up?
twiggstiudios says
it held up pretty well, there are a few areas of wear now after all these years but i quite like the worn look to it x

Hi Aimee! I'm a first-time visitor to your site–love it! I lived in England for 4 years, and reading your post made me feel like I was having a chat with some of my English friends. Onto the chair–so fabulous! I love the all-white look. This is making me size up dodgy-looking leather with a whole new eye…

Wow, I never knew you could spray paint leather, but if anyone would know you would. Boy if you should ever want any visitors I would be most happy to visit you in England. Seriously you always do such incredible work, i.e. pillow, painted trunk, telephone table redo, etc. etc. Your work/projects are always so inspiring. Thanks for sharing all your creative inspiration at Sunday's Best Party!
Pieced Pastimes says
What a transformation! It really turned out amazing. Love the whole idea of being able to paint leather to a different color.
Sian says
So how does it hold up to wear and wiping over? I've never heard of such a thing, but it looks really cool. Nice job!
Kristi says
WOW. Okay, I'm amazed at this. I have this 30+ year old chair from my late uncle (a lovely Queen Anne style) that I've wanted to "deal with" for so long…because the orange/brown 1970's suede just isn't cutting it anymore. Thanks so much for the inspiration! I can't pin this fast enough!
Would be delighted for you to share this at Mop it Up Mondays: http://www.ishouldbemoppingthefloor.com/2012/02/mop-it-up-mondays-party-2.html

I love it!! I have a spray painted leather chair I did a few years ago, it even made it to Design Sponge! They didn't have spray paint for leather and vinyl then, I just used Silver spray paint and did a lot of coats, very slowly. Your chair turned out gorgeous. So excited to try this new product!! BTW, my chair has not shown any signs of wearing, spray paint it amazing.
PS I host a linky party every Friday-Sunday, I would LOVE it if you could link this up. This is one of those projects that seeing is believing. Thanks!

Wow! I've been wanting to try the Johnny in a Dress technique as well, and now that I've seen how beautifully it translates to a chair, I'll definitely be giving it a try!

Did you pre-treat the wood on the chair, and paint it with the same paint?
Anonymous says
Does this hold up to wear and tear? Would a couch in house of 3 kids hold up?? This looks amazing!
Anonymous says
Is the chair definitely leather and not vinyl? I have a leather chesterfield that I want to paint but I'm terrified it will be the wrong paint.
twiggstiudios says
Yes its definitely leather. If you buy the leather spray paint for car seats then you will be fine xxx
Anonymous says
Could this work on a couch?
Sandra h. anderson says
Wow, amazing! Is it possible to use this paint to do on fabric and make it look leather like?
Thank you!
Alexandra
Sandra h. anderson says
I meant to say that I would like to paint a fabric chair making it look like leather. Any ideas?
twiggstiudios says
I’m not sure how you could do that x
