Would interior filler be the same as drywall compound or spackle?

WHAT are you calling Interior Filler? Drywall compound, Spackling compound? Real chalk is calcium carbonate. I have seen same recipe using it and the following in basically same proportions + a little water if needed. CC gives a particular chalky finish. Alternate recipes use Plaster of Paris powder or "whiting powder" whatever that is. Others use UNsanded white grout powder but that is gritty so you must want a texture. Most are mixing w satin or flat latex interior paint, any color works. Paint type affects final surface appearance.

I so want to find a chalk paint recipe that works, so I'll be trying this one out! Can't support the cost of $30 a quart – just not happening! I'll look for drywall compound and try it out! Thanks for sharing your creative inspiration with Sunday’s Best – you helped make the party a success!

Can't wait to try this! I just spent a small fortune on chalk paint. I wonder if I can save my self the dollars?!?
Thanks for sharing the recipe!

I make chalk paint. I use calcium carbonate, ( chalk, tums). You can buy it from health food stores. The difference between this and lime is its edible. I have tried plaster Paris. I have also bought chalk paint. To make sure I can get the thickness right. For me the key is adding hot water. It makes it much smoother. I can't take credit for this I had a friend tell me to try it that way. Don't know if this helps but I have painted some beautiful furniture with it.
