first i painted on some weathered wood medium, but vaseline will work, i just dabbed it on in a few places
then i painted it white, but i did this with a rough
paint brush, leaving brush marks and not being to worried about missing areas.
. then i wet my paint brush and painted over it again, making it lighter in some places than others. when it was dry i used an ageing stain, basically watered down brown paint, and used a sponge brush to apply it, then i used the rough brush (wet) to pull paint along
and blend it. i used a small soft brush to paint around the metal draw pulls, then again, i rubbed over it with the harder brush, i got some paint on the handles but i just quickly wiped it straight off.
when it was dry i got some chalk pastels (grey and brown and white) and rubbed
them on in areas that would get worn, like the edges and then blended it with my fingers, i then drew a few lines to mimic wood grain, and then blended them as well. i wanted it to look like white stained wood.

Hi Aimee,
I have been getting your blog for a couple months now and your tutorials are amazing. There are alot of great ones out there, but the ideas you come up with are so wonderful, not the same old thing. You have a fabulous imagination for ideas that no one else has and I hope you try and do something with it. You are EXTREMELY talented – I save every tutorial you send in your emails, keep up the great work!

I love faux finishes, especially when they're easy and they make cheap stuff look like a million bucks. Nice work.
I love how they turned out. It looks like the real thing. Fantastic job!

Wow – these look great what a good job you did!
OH.MY.GOODNESS. I'm in awe. Those are the most beautiful little drawers. PERFECT in every way! I am clicking to follow you so I don't miss anything else you come up with. Gorgeous blog… kudos to you on a job well done! xoxo jules from bles-id thrifter
Of course, I love anything with an aged finish on it, but the cardboard really looks like old wood. Great job!
Very cool technique, I'm sure it would work great for lots of projects! Thanks for sharing!
Love the finish and your process. I think they turned out beautiful. Would sure love to know where you got those cute cardboard drawers. They would work so perfect for some storage I am in desperate need of. With my luck you found it at a cute little shop in Torquay. If your willing to share, I would love to hear from you.([email protected]) I want to try out your technique and I think I must find myself some little drawers to try it on! Loved looking through your blog. Have subscribed to get your updates from now on. Thanks for the inspiration.
