    faux zinc soda can banner

    Uncategorized

i cut the top and bottom parts of the soda cans off, be careful at this point as unless the can has a flat cut edge it will be sharp. i removed the strips of can by first making a hole with a knife then using scissors to trim it off. then i trimmed the edges to make sure they were not sharp. i then sprayed them with silver spray paint and then straight way strayed on some vinegar/ water mixture, this bubbles the paint nad makes it crack so it looks more like zinc. once dry i cut it in to a banner shape and used a hole punch to cut the cans for the string. then i got a black ink pad and rubbed it on each one and then with a damp paper towel i rubbed it over the can.

then i used my silhouette machine to cut the letters joyful and stuck them on to the banner, and threaded the string through the holes.

Your banner is so cute. I would have never known it was made out of pop cans (I have more than enough of those sitting around here). Great idea!
