for the two turtle doves take some white polymer clay and soften it up. make two balls with it, one larger one for the body and a smaller on for the head.
take the larger ball and hold it flat against your finger and with your other hand flatten the and pull one side down like second photo, then roll ball for head and stick i on and smooth it in to one, then make two more balls for the wings and flatten between fingers and shape and stick them on, to make the toes you need the tiniest amount of clay, and roll it into a small sausage shape i did two toes for each foot as the third toes you wouldn’t see, for the beak i make a small ball and stuck it on and then pinched it int a triangle shape. i used a cocktail stick to poke holes for the eyes, i then made the perch and baked it in the oven for 20 mins at 110c
for the bird cage take a plastic wine glass and carefully cut the stem off with a knife, then take the top part of a bauble and open it out flat and paint it white. i used tape to make the lines on the glass for the bird cage and painted white between the lines and waited for it to dry then removed it, you could cut small thin lines of paper and glue them on for this, then super glue the foil bauble top on over the hole where you cut the stem off. take some card and draw around the glass so you have the part for the bottom and cut it out and glue the birds on to the perch with super glue then glue it on to the card. i then glued on some faux snow to make it look christmassy. then i placed the birds inside and glued the two parts together
i got the idea to use the wine glasses from my so called crafty life
