i made this mini ginger bread house scene as a little neighbour gift
here’s the recipe i used for ginger bread
350g plain flour
1 tea spoon bicarbonate of
soda
1 1/2 ground ginger
1 tsp ground cinnamon
175g butter
150g
light brown sugar
4 tbsp golden syrup (corn syrup)
half an grated orange
zest
first pre-heat oven at 180c, then sift flour, ginger, cinnamon and
bicarbonate of soda in to a bowl and put to one side,
then in a pan on a
medium heat add sugar, butter and syrup, and melt together gently.
then
remove from heat and add to the bowl with the flour ect, and stir in, wait till
cool enough to handle and knead in to dough.
then cover the area you are working on with flour and roll out
take a sharp knife and cut out the house shape.
i didn’t use a pattern for this i just cut each piece at a time and measured it against each part to form the house. to make the trees i cut triangle shapes then cut small triangles out of the sides, i then cut a circle for the base, i put the pieces on some baking paper and baked for 7 minutes.
once cooled i used icing to glue the house together. i then covered the base with icing and stuck the house on and pushed the trees into the icing to keep then standing up right, i used some icing sugar and sprinkled over the whole thing.
then i put it inside a jar as its packaging
