i was inspired by these bottles from pottery barn
so i decided to do my own, but i couldn’t find any vintage keys so i made some out of clay
first you need to take the clay and roll out a long piece for the key part. then for the ornate top part. roll a long thinner piece and attach it by moulding it together with water, then take one side and roll it up, like the photo, if you use a plastic straw you can roll it around it to make the shape, then use water to join the two pieces together. then roll another thinner piece and roll it again and join it on top, for the key part at the bottom, make a rectangle shape and cut a piece out of the middle and mould it on to the bottom of the key
leave it to dry completely before trying to move it as it will be delicate until its dry, then paint it black
then paint the bottle lid black and use a glue gun to stick it standing upright on to it,

I am always amazed how people can make a look alike from something they wanted to buy but didn't. Your keys are so incredible. Almost makes me want to take up my clay again. My hands don't work so well anymore so won't, but you've sure inspired me to try something else I shied away from. Love how your key bottles look. I am a nut for glass bottles, I have several smaller onef of the bluish green shade. Glad you shared this great post. Happy 2013
