recipe
500g self raising flour
1 tbs baking powder
90g caster sugar
2 eggs
t tbsp sunflower oil plus extra for frying
200ml milk
icing sugar to decorate
sift flour and baking powder in to a bowl with the caster sugar. in a separate bowl mix the milk eggs and oil together then pour into the bowl with the flour and knead into a dough.
dust your work surface with flour and roll the dough out to about half an inch thick and use cutter to cut the shape you want, then in a pan heat the oil, until 180c then drop the dough in a few at a time, turning after a minute and cooking until golden. (they will puff up) you can also use a deep fat fryer. this recipe is for normal round doughnuts but i thought i would try bunny shapes for Easter.
here they are puffed up. to decorate mix up some icing and dip them in. add a pink cake sprinkle for the nose and once dry i used a black cake pen to dot the eyes. for the bunny tails i rolled up some royal icing and stuck them on.
