i found this old book that was pretty much unreadable due to dirt on the pages in a charity shop, so i decided to use it for a planter, if you don’t like the idea of cutting up books then a book that is damaged like this is perfect.
you will need
wide book
a cutting blade
ruler
glue
plastic bag
plants like cacti or succulents
draw on the shape you want to cut (i decided on a rectangle) and use the ruler and blade to score the shape and remove the pages, you will need to continue this until it is deep enough to plant in, then glue all the pages together, except for the top few. line the hole with a plastic bag and glue it down then turn the top pages back over and glue them on top so you cant see the bag, then add your plants into it, i then added some gravel to hide the dirt.
to water them use a pipette so you don’t drip on the pages.

Oh wow, how creative is that! I would have never thought to do something like that. I'm your newest follower. You can find me decorating, painting and baking on HickoryTrail
You are a GENIUS! I was trying to think of a gift to give my sister (who kills plants) and she is an voracious book reader….So glad I found this! You have inspired me….thanks so much!
I love projects like this! Using books and book pages for all sorts of different things. This planter idea is genius and one I will bookmark for a future time!
So unique, Aimee! The cacti popping out of the book is a surprise anyone would love as a present.
What a great idea! Thanks for sharing.
So unusual and so cute too! Thanks for sharing it at the Shady Porch! Hope to see you again soon! Blessings, D@TheShadyPorch
I absolutely love this! I have been liking the succulents, but didn't know what to plant them in. Now I know to put them in my favorite book!!!
Thanks for this creative idea, I like it! 🙂
Hi, Aimee, Very unusual. You won't have to worry about watering them either since they are succulents who don't need much water. I killed some of my succulents by over watering them. Evidently you aren't supposed to water more than once a month in the winter. Well, I was watering a few times a week. Best wishes, Linda
Very clever – really fun!
Thanks for sharing!
