    chocolate orange mini bundt cakes

    Uncategorized

i love chocolate and orange together it seem to remind me of winter, these little cakes are so tasty and were really popular with my family.
i kept some orange juice back and used it for a glaze. i made one cake mix and halved it and then added chocolate to one and the orange juice and zest to the other.

    recipe
    130g butter
    130g golden caster sugar
    130g flour
    2 eggs
    1/4 tbp baking powder
juice and zest of 1 orange
    100g chocolate
    3 tsp cocoa powder
    preheat the oven at 180c
in a mixing bowl add the butter and sugar together and using and electric whisk mix for 3/4 minutes until smooth and pale. add the eggs and mix in one at a time.
sift in the flour and baking powder and mix in,
remove half of the mixture and put into a separate bowl, add the juice and zest of half an orange and mix together into one of the bowls of mixture,
in a microwave safe bowl, melt the chocolate and add it into the other bowl with the cocoa and mix.
grease the bundt mould (i got the mould from wholeport.com)
take a spoon and add a bit of each of the cake batters and continue adding drops of each one to create a marble effect.
    bake for 20 minutes.
invert on to a wire rack and remove from the mould.
use the remaining orange juice and mix in enough icing sugar to create a glaze (about 150g)
use a pastry brush and paint on the glaze to each cake.

these look SO yummy! however, i live in the us and have never heard of golden caster sugar. what do you think would be the closest substitute: light or dark brown sugar or regular white granulated sugar?

Normal caster sugar will work fine I used golden caster sugar which is the same just un refined and not bleached.
        Hope that helps x

I just pulled out the copy of this recipe because I wanted to make these for Christmas gifts. I had completely forgotten that the amounts of ingredients were in grams instead of cups, etc. I have no idea how to convert this. PLEASE advise the American equivalents for this recipe or let me know where to go to find the conversion info. Your site has numerous recipes that I am wanting to try, but it makes it impossible when I don't know the American equivalent to grams, etc. as well as the conversion of oven temps from C. to F. PLEASE, PLEASE help. Thanks.

I want to try this but the recipe is so darn hard to read. I think they are beautiful and I’m excited because chocolate and orange is one of my favorite things. I just have a couple of questions.

You state to put 1/4 tbp of baking powder. Is that 1/4 of a tablespoon or 1/4 of a teaspoon?

You also mention to put the melted chocolate in “the other bowl with the cocoa and mix”. What does this mean? You don’t mention anything about the cocoa powder before mentioning this. So do I add the chocolate to the cocoa powder or what?

You also say to add in the eggs and mix one at a time. So which one is it?

Do you add the juice and the zest of the orange to half of the mix? That whole area is written like one giant run-on sentence and is not understandable in the least.

Please consider revising your recipe so that it reads intelligibly. Following this recipe, I would find a lot of dead ends. I don’t mean to be critical, but as a baker who is looking to up her game, I am always on the hunt for unique recipes and yours fit the bill. I just want to be able to understand it.

sorry this recipe is from 2013 before i really knew how to write down instructions or really even bake properly, separate the mixture in half, add orange to one and chocolate to another.
