    oreo macarons recipe

    Uncategorized

these macarons were so yummy, i love oreos so these were extra special, my partner said they were the best i have made so that was good. if you love oreos and macarons then give them a go.
i love making macarons at home and prefer homemade ones to the shop bought ones.

i always measure my ingredients for macarons in grams rather than use cups as the measurements need to be precise.
    recipe for macaron shells
    105g ground almonds
    200g icing sugar
    100g egg whites
    1/2 tsp salt
    50g caster sugar
5g oreo crumbs (pull the oreos apart and use the halves with out the butter cream on approx 3 or 4 halves)

    butter cream filling
    3/4 cup butter
10 oreo cookies plus more to sprinkle inside
    1/4 cup icing sugar

in a food processor add the ground almonds and pulse, then add the icing sugar and pulse again until a fine powder then pour into a bowl for later and add the oreo halves into the food processor
and pulse until fine and stir into the icing sugar/almond mixture.
then whip the egg whites and salt until foamy and add the caster sugar a spoon full at a time.

whip until the mixture reaches stiff peaks, i added some black colouring at this point to make the mixture appear grey
sift in 1/4 of the almond/sugar/oreo mixture and fold in, then add the next quarter, continue folding in until it is combined, try not to over work it.
spoon into a piping bag and pipe circles on to a baking sheet or use a macaron mat like i do, mine is from wholeport.com.
tap the baking sheet on the work top a few times to pop any air bubbles then leave the macarons from 20 mins to 1 hour to form a skin,
preheat the oven to 140c and bake them for 20 minutes
to make butter cream add the whole oreos into a food processor and blend until fine, then in a bowl mix the butter until soft then mix in the icing sugar with the oreo crumbs and mix in,
    spoon into a piping bag.
pipe onto a macarons then sprinkle on some crushed oreo crumbs and sandwich another on top.
