these scones were lovely, i love the combination or earl grey and orange so i really enjoyed them.
i mixed a little brewed earl grey with some orange zest and powdered sugar to drizzle on them.
i grew up drinking earl grey tea so i would probably enjoy anything with earl grey in although weirdy now i have left home i tend to just drink normal english breakfast tea, eating these reminded me how much i love it.

recipe
2 and 1/2 cups plain flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp baking powder
8 tbsp butter
1/2 ts salt
2/3 cup double cream
1 egg beaten
zest of 1 orange
1 earl grey tea bag
5 medjool dates
preheat the oven to 425f/200c
add the teabag in a bowl with the dates and cover with boiling water and set aside.
in a food processor add the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar, pulse to mix then add the butter.
beat the egg, zest and 3 tsp of the earl grey and cream together and mix until it forms a ball.
tip out on to a floured surface, chop the dates and add on top of the dough and fold in so they are evenly distributed throughout dough and shape into a round ball then flatten and slice into wedges,
brush over some more cream, then bake for 15 minutes
take 2 tsp of the left over earl grey then add a tsp of orange zest and then add about 1/2 cup of powdered sugar and mix into a runny icing, add more powered sugar if need
