these meringue bones are so easy to make and i think used on a pavlova they look so cool, im sure that it would go down well at a halloween party. i decided to make a hand too,
i made a raspberry sauce but decided to keep the lumps of fruit in for extra gore.
Halloween is one of the holidays that i don’t really celebrate, as a child my brothers and i would dress up for trick or treat but i don’t think Halloween is as popular here in England then it is in the states.
to make the meringue
weigh out 2 egg whites then weigh out double that amount in caster sugar
heat the oven to 350f 180c and pour the sugar onto some baking paper,
put the sugar in the oven for 5 minutes to warm it up, add the egg whites into a stand mixer and start beating until throthy, by then the sugar should be ready, pour it in slowly and turn up the mixer to high speed.
turn the oven down to 110c
draw some lines on to a piece of baking paper so that you have a guide and pipe on bone shapes, then pipe 3 circles for the pavlova
for the skeleton hand draw around your hand then pipe were the bones should be.
bake for 35 40 minutes
in a pan add 1 cup of raspberries and 1/4 cup of caster sugar then boil over a low heat, break up the raspberries with a wooden spoon to realease some juice. stir until sugar has disolved then remove from heat.
whip some cream until almost stiff approx 200ml then take one circle of meringue then spoon on some cream and add the next two layers, cover the out side with cream then press on the bones around the edge. to serve spoon over the raspberry mixture,
