my dog Archie (the one on the left) loves to watch me bake and i often let him have some of what i have made, but i decided to treat him and cake him this dog friendly cake.
my mums dog blue and him loved it.
they both really love peanut butter, i think most dogs do so i new it would be a hit.
recipe
200g spelt flour or wholemeal (1 and 1/2 cups)
100g butter (approx 7 tbsp)
120g peanut butter (approx half a cup)
3 eggs
1 apple chopped into small bits
1 tsp baking powder
preheat the oven to 180c
in a bowl mix the butter, and peanut butter then add the eggs one at a time, fold in the flour then add the chopped apple and spoon into a baking tin.
bake for 35 minutes
to decorate mix 2 tbsp peanut butter and 4 tbsp double cream and pipe around the top.

Adorable! I love the idea of peanut butter and apple, but I'd substitute a different fat. Dogs process fat differently than humans and are susceptible to getting pancreatitis. I'd try switching with coconut oil or a healthy vegetable and see how it bakes. My vet said coconut oil in small amounts was ok. I've baked lots of carrot, peanut butter, banana cakes for my pups with yogurt low fat cream cheese frosting. I think I'll try apple next!
